Patience & Conviction
Shurah 103
By the token of time, through the ages, verily man is in loss except those who have faith, and do righteous deeds, and join together in the mutual teaching of truth and of patience.
Patience and perseverance, Allah has mentioned in Quran in many places. Surah 16:127- And be patient for your patience is but by Allah. At-Tur 52:48 – Now await in patience by the command of Your Lord. Patience is made a condition of success and prosperity.
O You who believe! Persevere in patience and constancy; vie in such perseverance, strengthen each other, and fear Allah that you may prosper.
Patience means to
Keep your feelings and passions under control, avoid rashness, bewilderment, despair, greediness, keep cool and calm, make considered decisions, remain firm and steadfast in the face of dangers and difficulties.
Patience and faith are prerequisite for leadership in religion. Quran 32:24 – “ And we appointed, from among them, leaders, giving guidance under our commands, so long as they persevered with patience and continued to have faith in our signs.”
Patience is the way to earn the companionship of Allah (SWT). Quran 8:46 and be patient and persevere, for Allah is with those who patiently persevere.
People who have patience are the true winners in this world and the next, because they have the companionship of Allah.
Quran 2:155-156
Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (Of your toil), but give Glad tidings to those who patiently persevere, who say, when afflicted with calamity: “To God we belong, and to Him is our return.”
The Prophet Muhammad’s life and the other Messengers of God, are signs for human beings who find themselves in the most unfavorable circumstance or hardships. They are signs that says you must keep to patience, you must keep your human excellence, and you must persevere the original pattern that God has created you in.
Patience is a quality of endurance without complaint, to continue in spite of counter influences, opposition, obstacle or discouragement. Perseverance is a statement of integrity that transcends the concept of patience. It includes patience, but only in its most basic form. Perseverance is a special type of patience which denotes the additional idea of endurance. Perseverance is the art of continuing an assignment even without seeing the results of that assignment being manifested.
We have to be willing to live and even die for an effort without seeing that efforts end, but being convinced that the good effort is not in vain. Faith is conviction of the heart, the only antidote to failure. Perseverance includes the dedication necessary to upkeep a situation until it can be responsibly passed on to future generations, even without obtaining the gold ourselves.
Musa and Qidir – The Wall (leaning) – comments. The values under the falling wall was for the next generation, so Qidir repaired the wall for them!
For humans, patience is like a light, it lights the way when difficulties and hardships confront us. When the darkness of adversities and suffering become long in our lives, it is patience that saves us from disappointment, depression and frustration. Patience lets us proceed with courage in the face of afflictions, and temptations on the road that God has chosen for us.
Remember and reflect on the story of Prophet Job (pbuh) in the Quran and in the Bible, that story is very important for the benefit our lives!
May Allah except our prayers and help us to cultivate more patience in our lives.
